Had a great session with my therapist last week when I told him about the Treat Me Right Challenge. Part of my work in the challenge is to do small things like paint my nails every week or so. What this project does is make sure I am intentional about my own personal care.
To be honest however I haven't been treating myself so good in the last couple of weeks. I've been struggling with some financial troubles and as is oft to happen with me that spiraled me into a mini-depressive episode. I haven't been eating the way that I should or in general taking care of myself or my appearance.
The financial trouble has been cleared up so I'm sure I'm on my way to recovery. However, this won't be the last time that I have financial difficulty. I want to figure out strategies towards a healthier outlook regardless of my momentary financial condition.
Things that I have done that I feel proud about:
1) bought a cookbook and started reading it
2) set up weekly appointments with my therapist
3) gone a full week actually following my medication regiment
4) set up hang outs with people outside my 'close' circle
5) staid on top of my classwork for this quarter
6) made concrete plans to visit family for imperialism day vacation (you might know it as thanksgiving)
7) finally got the dance workout dvd i've been wanting for a year
8) made new Black friends (in real life and virtual)
9) started dating again
10) made progress with applying for residency and getting the adaptive technologies i need to be successful in my program
11) started the edenfantasys.com ambassador program
12) talking with friends and family semi-regularly
